American Motors Javelin served as the companys entrant into the pony car market. The segment was created by the Ford Mustang even if Fords car was not the first entry. The Javelins design evolved from two prototype cars named AMX that were shown in AMCs Project IV auto show circuit during 1966. One was a fiberglass twoseat AMX, and the other was a fourseat AMX II.
